what i should do
is not hesitate
like in the past
go boldly into
this blue ink
nothing, it is
everything, but
only for me
in this second
i try to tell the truth
and nothing but
what i’ve learned on tv
those sitcoms like
three’s company
and imagine
that all of life could
be the regal beagle
a stage set in
the 80’s, and yet
this goes on, we call
it netflix, my old
nemesis, my old
friend, what i should do
i don’t, the humans
make mistakes
the revolution
will be televised
but there will
never be a
revolution

Fall In Love With Fast Food
We have the meats, only the latest siren call, the odysseus watchers of televised oracle know our happy must be fed, we must eat fresh, the highway signs urge us, next exit, final exit, on the conveyer belt of factory farming, where environmental earth comes in last, profit 1, addictive ingredients 2, advertising 3, yet we continue to drive thru because america runs on dunkin’, and somewhere a marketer reads this little piece on the internet and thinks, free publicity, the number one rule of fast food? there is no fast food, because i’m loving it, slow bites for the camera, finger lickin’ good, says the colonel, the conveyer belt is overpowering, cannot be stopped, won’t be stopped, so don’t fight it, get smarter and eat mor chikin.
My Father on College Bowl (1963)

Heatblast
This is my son’s version of the character from Ben 10 (Cartoon Network Series).
The News
is worried about the economy
and about the virus and
how the two are connected
about cruise ships that
sail sick people in their midst
and so, day after day
men in suits, women with lipstick
grin or frown into cameras, on
screens, talk about stocks
descending, and this goes on
and on, day after day, as we
watch quarantines, death counts
following along, witnessing
global pandemic with a smile
and a grimace
